The students in our grade 2-3 class were asked some questions about quality of life and here is what they had to say... What are the main factors that enhance quality of life in your community?
- Giving food or money to the less fortunate.
- Being kind to people in your community or anywhere.
- I would like to help my neighbours by taking turns mowing the grass or shoveling snow.
- Donating to people in need.
- Being kind to one another and trying to make each other laugh.
- Always wearing a mask when you're indoors.
- When the community comes together to do fundraisers or a community clean.
- If you want to improve your communities quality of life you should give to local charities if you can because it helps people in need and directly affects your community! - Being aware of those in need. Reaching out to local media to get support for issues that you care about.
- Inspiring others to care about people in poverty.
What are the main factors that detract from quality of life in your community?
- Covid-19
- Covid-19 because people have been dying or getting sick. When that happens people start to feel bad or sad instead of happy.
- Being isolated for too long is not good and we all know that! - When people lose jobs because businesses are closing.
- When people are unsafe and take off their mask indoors even if they don't know if they have Covid or not.
- When people are rude or don't help others in their community.
- Not being able to see your relatives or losing your job because of Covid.
- When people don't act safely.
- We have known that everyone hates having COVID 19 around, being isolated, losing a job, living in poverty, most of all, having people or your loved ones lose their life.
What are some ways that you can get involved in addressing social issues that impact your quality of life or that of others in your community?
- We put together packages of supplies for families in need.
- You can give money or food to people in poverty.
- Donate to local charities.
- In our community we help by picking up litter and all sorts of things!
- Start a fundraiser in your community or school and use the money to support others like we did with our CHM packages!
- I will give things to those in poverty that don't have enough food to eat and then they will be happy and have a good life.
- We used our website the CHM to help people because they could be in poverty because of Covid-19.
- You could give books or other stuff like what we did with our CHM packages!
-We are giving out our CHM packages to people in poverty to make them healthy and happy, even when there is COVID 19.
